The people of Latin America are known for their joie de vivre and exuberant lifestyles. This is especially noticeable in Mexico, where the priorities of everyday life are somewhat different from what one is used to in the United States or in the United Kingdom. If you stroll through the village of Holbox in the evening, you will hear pleasant-sounding rhythms from numerous restaurants, bars and pubs, which inevitably invite you to join in. And even if you don’t want to dance, you can still enjoy the good mood of the performers and the audience.

The nightlife on the island is quite manageable compared to the big tourist centers in Cancún or Playa del Carmen. In many pubs there are often small live concerts or DJs who encourage their guests to stay longer. However, if you are looking for large and loud discos, you will hardly find them here. Only the restaurant-bar Black Trebol has recently made a name for itself as a dance and night club, where parties often take place around its own pool. We have put together a selection of the best bars for you here.

Salsa dance classes are held every Tuesday at Tribu Hostel and every Wednesday at Che Hostel & Bar. But there are also a few private dance teachers on Holbox, who are known in the two hostels and can be found there.

Bars with Live Music or DJs

The range of nightclubs on the small island of Holbox is rather limited, and their program is also rather irregular. It is worthwhile to look around a bit and sometimes just to follow the crowd that moves from one “hot spot” to another at a late hour.

Especially at sunset time, a walk along the long beach in either direction takes you past many beach clubs and small, often very simply built beach bars. One or the other should not be missed. Some of the larger, better-known bars in town are listed here.
